1. Who we are

Respaldo RD ([RAZÓN SOCIAL PENDIENTE], RNC [RNC PENDIENTE]) is a private lender: it makes loans secured by vehicles or real estate with its own capital, and credit decisions are made by Respaldo RD. Respaldo RD is not a bank. [Lawyer to review: framework for private non-bank lenders, movable-property security interests (Ley 45-20), mortgages (Ley 189-11) and interest limits.]

2. Our loans

  • Vehicle loans: US$3,000 to US$75,000 (approx. RD$180,000 to RD$4,500,000), with terms of 6 to 24 months. We lend against a vehicle you already own, or finance the purchase of a new or used vehicle with a down payment of about 20–30%; when you buy, the purchased vehicle is the collateral. You keep and use the vehicle throughout the loan. The only conditions of use are: keep the insurance and marbete current, keep the GPS tracker installed, and don’t sell or re-pledge the vehicle until the loan is repaid.
  • Property loans: US$15,000 to US$75,000 (approx. RD$900,000 to RD$4,500,000), with terms of 6 to 24 months, first-lien mortgage only and up to ~50% of the appraised value. You keep living in or renting out the property; the conditions are to keep the IPI and taxes current, look after the property, and not sell or re-mortgage it until the loan is repaid.

If we change these ranges, we publish it on this page. The terms of your loan are the ones we give you in writing before you sign. Peso amounts use a reference rate of US$1 ≈ RD$60.

3. No guarantee of approval

Submitting an application is not an offer or a credit approval. We assess each application based on the value and documentation of the collateral, your ability to repay and our internal criteria, and we may approve it, propose different terms or decline it.

4. Terms in writing before you sign

If we approve your application, we give you in writing, before you sign, the interest rate, every fee, the payment schedule, the total cost and the conditions that apply if you pay late. The loan is governed by the contract you sign with Respaldo RD, which prevails over the information on this site.

5. Optional referral to partner lenders

If we can’t finance your application and, only if you authorized it on the form, we may present it to partner lenders so they can make you an offer. Any offer from a partner is governed by its own terms and contract; Respaldo RD is not a party to that loan. This authorization is optional, separate from your application, and you can withdraw it at any time. [Confirm whether Respaldo RD receives compensation from partners for referrals and, if so, disclose it here.]

6. Costs

Applying for a loan with Respaldo RD is free. We will never ask you for upfront payments to approve, “release” or disburse a loan. Any appraisal, inspection, notary, registration or insurance costs are disclosed to you in writing before they are incurred.

7. Consumer information (Ley 358-05)

Under Ley núm. 358-05, the General Law on the Protection of Consumer or User Rights, you have the right to truthful, clear, timely and complete information about the products and services offered to you. Before you take out a loan with us, we will tell you in writing, at a minimum:

  • The interest rate and whether it is fixed or variable.
  • All charges, fees and expenses, including appraisal, insurance and closing costs.
  • The total amount to repay, the term and the payment schedule.
  • Late-payment charges and the consequences of default, including possible enforcement against the collateral.
  • The conditions for paying early.

If you have a complaint, write to us first so we can resolve it. You can also contact the National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor). [Lawyer to review.]

8. Your responsibilities

You agree to provide truthful, up-to-date information and to use the site only for lawful purposes. False information may lead to your application being declined.

9. Eligibility

10. Limitation of liability

11. Personal data

The processing of your data is governed by our Privacy policy.
